KAIRA — The Crescent
I made The Crescent because I was tired of carrying bags that didn't feel like me. Most everyday bags are loud — logos, hardware, that shiny finish that screams new. I wanted the opposite. Something soft, structured but not stiff, big enough for the day and small enough to forget you're carrying it.
The shape came first. A gentle curve at the bottom, a clean top line, a braided cord strap long enough to sit on the shoulder without sliding. No zipper — I tried a zipper on the prototype and it killed the softness of the whole thing. The Crescent opens easily because it's meant to. It trusts you.
Then the colours. I wanted four that would actually go with what women already wear, not four that would only look good in a photograph. So: Lavender for the days that need something gentle, Cream for everything, Charcoal for the days that need to feel a little serious, and Sage because I couldn't not.
Each Crescent takes me around eighteen hours. The chunky crochet stitch is slower than it looks because the yarn is thick and the tension has to stay perfectly even — one loose round and the whole curve goes off. I work on it in long sittings, usually with the door open and something quiet playing.
It's priced at ₹1,449 because that's what eighteen hours of careful handwork is worth, and because I wanted The Crescent to be the bag a woman buys for herself on a regular Wednesday — not a special occasion, not a treat, just a quiet upgrade to her ordinary day.
I named it The Crescent because of the soft curve at the base — the same shape as a new moon resting on its back. A bag that holds your things the way the night holds a quiet hour.
Find The Crescent in all four colours in the shop, or read more about how every piece is made in how I make it.
