We choose it on purpose — it holds structure under weight, shrugs off Indian humidity in a way cotton doesn't, stays colourfast, and doesn't stretch at the handles where a bag usually fails. Cotton and wool genuinely win on biodegradability, and if that's your priority they're the better fibre.
